Pre/Post Natal Massage
I feel that the pre and post-natal
time of a woman’s life is one of the greatest opportunities to nurture
herself. It is one of those times that can become stressful or uncomfortable,
if you neglect to honor yourself in this unique stage of life. Every
woman looks back on this time in her life. Why not make the memories
fond?
Take the cue from your body if you
are starting to feel stressed or uncomfortable. Massage is one of the
best ways to combat stress, discomfort, or just simply nurture yourself.
Know someone who is pregnant or who
just had a baby? A gift
certificate will give her great relief and she will undoubtedly
remember that as a wonderful gift during one of the most treasured times
in her life! (A great baby shower gift!)
Prenatal Massage:
This specialized massage can be done at any stage of pregnancy. Prenatal
Massage is done with the mommy-to-be laying on her side. I have special
pillows to bolster her as needed so that she will be as comfortable
as possible. The benefits of prenatal massage may include:
- Reduction in swelling (edema) in the extremities
- Promote relaxation for both mommy and baby (yes, in the womb)
- Relieve sore muscles that sometimes accompany pregnancy
- Improve circulation
- Encourage more restful sleep
- Improve Posture
- Help you become more aware of your changing body
- Help with labor
Prenatal Massage is not only beneficial
to the mommy-to-be, but is helpful to the baby as well! I know it may
sound strange, but the baby can feel it too! The mother’s and the
baby’s nervous systems are intertwined and the baby will feel the
mother relax.
Labor Massage:
As a massage therapist and a doula, I can provide my massage services
to you while you are in labor! I keep my phone with me all the time,
so if you are in labor and in need of some pampering and massage assistance,
please give me a call. Massage during labor has some profound benefits
on the mother and the course of her labor.
I can come to you at your home, or
to the hospital. I will bring everything you need to relax; massage
lotion, table, clean linens, music, essential oils, or anything else
you need. For my out call/ travel services, there is an additional fee
of $15. Also, if these services are needed after 8pm or before 9am,
I there will be an additional fee of $20. Click
here to learn more about my rates.
Unless you are already one of my doula
clients who I am on call for, I cannot guarantee that I will arrive
at exactly the time needed, but I will get there as soon as I possibly
can as my schedule will allow. If you are already one of my doula clients,
then my massage/ bodywork services (during labor) are, of course, included
with your doula services.
If you are interested in hiring me
to be your doula, please go to Birth
Doula Services on this
website to read more about it. Then, call me! (406) 860-4207
Postnatal Massage:
Massage after birth can greatly enhance healing and relaxation for the
new mom. Benefits may include:
- Helping to move fluids and reduce swelling that may have occurred during pregnancy
- Helping to prevent post-partum depression
- Rebalance the body structure and posture
- Helps to release stress and negative emotions
If you want or need to bring your new
baby to your massage session with you that is perfectly acceptable,
as I know of ways to position you and your baby so that you may still
receive a relaxing massage.
I can also come to your home or the
hospital to give you your treatment.
Infant Massage:
This is a special massage that both you and your baby will benefit from.
Bring your baby in with you to my office (or, if you prefer, I can come
to you at your home). I will then instruct you on how to give your baby
a massage. I use a doll to show you the techniques and then you
do them on your baby! This process may take anywhere from 30 minutes
to 1 hour. It is very spontaneous and fun. I will also give you some
grapeseed oil to use on your baby, as well as some handouts and information
on baby massage. The cost of the instruction is $45 (plus $15
if you want me to travel to your home).
